PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
Physician Assistant, Ashley Book brings over 20 years of experience in clinical orthopedic care and orthopedic surgery to her role at the Orthopedic Performance Institute. Much of her professional career has been spent working with orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Scott L. Sledge, MD who specializes in treatment of shoulder conditions.
Ashley began her education at the University of Texas at San Antonio, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology. She went on to receive her Emergency Medical Technician-Basic from Austin Community College. She graduated in 2002 with honors from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.
When away from her practice, Ashley fosters special needs dogs for animal rescues all over the country, sometimes fostering 15-25 dogs at one time. She also owns a transport company that transports about 1,500 homeless animals each year out of state to their forever adoptive homes. She is an avid cyclist, and loves road biking and working out.
Ashley works closely with Dr. Alexandra Matthews, DO to provide the following services:
- Evaluate and treat new and follow-up patients
- Ultrasound and fluoroscopic guided joint injections
- Interpreting radiologic imaging (xray, MRI, CT) and laboratory results
